Privacy notice

Last updated: September 2026.

EarShots reads public posts. It stores the documentation you connect, encrypted, to draft your replies. It does not train models on your data, and it never posts on your behalf.

Who we are

EarShots.Dev is the controller of the personal data described in this notice. EarShots is the product name we use in our interface and marketing. EarShots.Dev provides developer social listening: it finds public conversations about your product, sorts them, and drafts replies from your own documentation for a person to approve.

You can reach us at privacy@earshots.dev.

What we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, and login credentials.
  • Workspace data: product name, website and documentation URLs, voice and tone notes, and uploaded documentation files.
  • Support messages: anything you send us when you ask for help.
  • Usage and telemetry: pages viewed, features used, and actions taken in the app, tied to your account.
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser and device identifiers, and timestamps.

EarShots also collects public posts from developer communities on your behalf. That content is public material about products, and it may include the public display names of the people who wrote it.

Why we collect it

  • To create and manage your account, under our contract with you.
  • To provide the service: listening, sorting, drafting, and team review, under our contract with you.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent fraud, based on our legitimate interests.
  • To improve the product, based on our legitimate interests. We use aggregated and de-identified data where we can.
  • To respond to support requests, under our contract with you.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use your workspace content to train models for other customers.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers that host and run the product: cloud hosting, database, analytics, and AI providers that generate sorting and drafts.
  • Paddle, our Merchant of Record, which handles the sale of subscriptions, payment processing, tax compliance, and invoicing. Paddle processes payment data under its own privacy notice.
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, where needed.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

We require service providers to protect your data and to use it only to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

We keep account and workspace data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your workspace data and personal data, except records the law requires us to keep, such as tax records. Telemetry is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for the purposes above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights over your personal data:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data. You can do this yourself from the account settings page.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive a portable copy of your data.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority.

Email privacy@earshots.dev to exercise any of these. We respond within one month.

Security

We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls that limit who on our team can see what, and row level rules that keep each workspace's data scoped to its members. No method of storage is perfect, but we work to protect your data and we will tell you if a breach affects you.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential storage to keep you signed in, and analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. Essential storage is required for the app to work. You can block analytics cookies in your browser without losing access to the product.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
